This is one of the most popular musical instruments in the local dance industry of our country. Geta beraya is a local percussion instrument in Sri Lanka.  This is the main percussion instrument of the Kandyan dance.  The drum is played by hand. 

It has two round faces.  This takes on an elongated shape. This is often played while dancing.  A musical instrument unique to Sri Lanka. This is made of wood and animal skins.  It is about 28 inches long.  Both men and women play this. In particular, hundreds of drummers play during the Dalada Perahera, as well as at temples and festivals where local Kandyan dances are used.
