Daula is a local musical instrument of Sri Lanka. A musical instrument unique to Sri Lanka. This belongs to the category of percussion instruments.
Daula is the main rhythmic instrument of Sabaragamuwa dance. The shape of a drum can be seen here. It has two round faces. This is played by hand and with a small wooden stick. This is made of wood and animal skins. It is also used for temple ceremonies. Men often play the drums. But this is a musical instrument that is slowly losing popularity. It is often used only in rural areas.
