The yak beraya is a local musical instrument of Sri Lanka.  A musical instrument unique to Sri Lanka.  This belongs to the category of percussion instruments. In the local music industry of our country, one of my favorite musical instruments is the yakbera.

The yak beraya is the main rhythmic instrument of low country dance. The shape of a drum can be seen here. It has two round faces. This is played by hand. This is made of wood and animal skins.  It is also used for temple ceremonies. Men often play the yak beraya. The yak drum is one of the most played instruments in the Dalada Perahera in Sri Lanka.  Hundreds of Yak drummers take part in the procession to the Temple of the Tooth.
