The rabana is one of the most popular and favorite instruments in our country during the Sinhala New Year season. The rabana is a local musical instrument of Sri Lanka.  This is a musical instrument unique to Sri Lanka.  This belongs to the category of percussion instruments. 

This is made of wood and animal skins. It is also used for temple ceremonies. This is a very popular instrument during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year. This is especially used for drumming.  There are many types of rubber. There are several types of ribbons, small and large.  Some drums are danced and played.  Often the ribbon is played by women. This is a musical instrument that is gradually fading.  However, Rabana can still be seen in the villages that belong to the traditional folk music of our country.
